new stuff in progress - outlines done with the Aristo 3Fit mechanical pencil (I am seriously loving this pen - thank you ArtSnacks ;))
digital coloring is underway - will take a while though (still practicing)
messing around with art snacks.
Koh-i-noor Tri-tone colored pencils, Winsor&Newton Vine charcoal, Artisto 3Fit mechanical pencil
I really like the mechanical pencil - finally one where the eraser doesn’t have a silly cap that you always need to push down and consequently push out the lead all the time.
The colored pencil is kind of cool. I don’t really like the way it rubs against the paper but I like the color.
Gah - I’ve never liked coal. It gets your hands dirty and feels horrid when dragged across the paper (the sound is also pleasant - comparable to dragging your nails across a blackboard). But but but I’m trying to get into it. A little.
The last two week have been been crazy, so I’m sorry about the lack of posts over the last little while. In the meantime, though, here’s a quick 2am sketch I did early this morning. I was taking a break from a stressful project by listening to some of my favorite tunes, and voila. Out of my fingertips and charcoal onto my sketchbook flowed this peaceful music lover. She’s definitely in her happy place, listening to her best playlist on her massive headphones. :)
Yay for finally playing around with my #ArtSnacks box goodies! :)
Vine charcoal from April’s box and white charcoal pencil from March.
I love this months art snacks, finally some color.
The April @ArtSnacks package was a tri-colour pencil, synthetic brush, liquitex acrylic paint and W&N charcoal. For a challenge I was trying to paint an argonian on faux leather and it was super hard to draw, but easy to paint. Turns out though, that the pencil will stick to charcoal if I draw with that first, although then I lose the adorable tri-colour shading. #artsnackschallenge
i received my second art snacks box! in it was:
- a koh-i-noor tri-tone pencil in a variety of yellow hues
- snap! series brush by princeton artists brush company
- liquitex soft body acrylic paint in hookers green
- winsor & newton vine charcoal
i was familiar with all of these products except the tri-tone pencil… and that one seems so subtle that i haven’t decided how to use it just yet.
i had fun with the new teeny round brush and the paint, and since i’m making a few demos for my animation classes, i thought i’d do a quick time lapse painting!
have you tried the tri-tone pencils before? how do you use them in your work?
Last night I tried this acrylic I got in #artsnacks and I really liked it! I’m no fan of acrylic paint, I prefer to work with washes. This was really easy to make into a wash, and easy to work with as is. Its light and smooth :D (liquitex soft body) #painting #acrylic #blue #moleskine #nofilter
